People across the US rally against anti-Asian racism

People gathered over the weekend to take a stand against the violence and hatred facing Asian Americans as they hold rallies and vigilance in the U.S. following the deadly shooting at three spas in the Atlanta area.

The shooting on Tuesday killed at least eight people, including six Asian women. The attacks took place during an increase in hate incidents against Asians in the US and sparked discussions about the hypersexualization that Asian women regularly experience; the suspect was allegedly a customer at two spas and told police he had a ‘sex addiction’.

As the crimes inspired feelings of anger and fear, people also responded with calls to action. Gatherings in different cities put an end to racism and solidarity with the Asian American and Pacific Islands. Vigils honored the victims, who are remembered for their hard work and compassion and the love they shared with their families.
