Pennsylvania, Westmoreland County, sees most reported deaths in months

Month-long deadly highs were reported Tuesday in Pennsylvania and Westmoreland County. The additional fatal deaths also continued with a trend occurring two and three months at state and county level, respectively.

Deaths

According to the state Department of Health, Tuesday reported the most additional deaths since the end of February.

77 deaths were reported, bringing the death toll from the state to 25,767. Of the deaths reported Tuesday, 75 are from April and two from March. The score was the most seen since 81 was reported on February 25th. There have not been 100 or more injured deaths reported in Pennsylvania since Feb. 17, when 193 were reported.

Similarly, Westmoreland County on Tuesday reported the most fatal deaths in two months. The province reported four additional deaths, which continued the trend of single-digit death rates in the country. The last double-digit count took place on January 20 when 12 deaths were reported.

Three additional deaths were reported in Allegheny County on Tuesday, bringing the province’s deaths to a total of 1,837. Of the new deaths, one was in the 70s and two in the 80s, according to the health department. One deaths were related to a long-term care facility.

Hospitalizations

Covid hospitals in Pennsylvania rebounded Tuesday with 2,833 currently admitted to the hospital, according to state health data.

The total increased by 128 from Monday, which was the largest single day jump in two weeks. Hospitalizations increased by 100 or more twice a day in April. From the beginning of the month, hospitalizations increased by about 36%. One month ago, the number of people hospitalized for covid-19 was 1529.

Hospitalizations were also in Allegheny County on Tuesday. The province’s current total for corporate hospitalizations was 281, compared to 272 on Monday. Allegheny County experienced a decrease in hospitalizations every day from Wednesday to Sunday.

In neighboring Westmoreland County, hospitalizations were underway for a second day in a row. There were 59 covid-19 patients admitted to the hospital on Tuesday, compared to 54 on Monday. As in Allegheny County, Westmoreland recently saw a daily decline in joint hospitalizations from Thursday to Sunday.

Incidents

Pennsylvania reported about 31% fewer cases than last week at the same point, according to figures from the state Department of Health.

The state reported 4,577 additional cases with covid-19 on Tuesday (2,870 confirmed, 1,707 likely), compared to 6,638. That was a welcome drop after last week with five days of more than 5,000 cases. Total cases in the state are now 1,113,868. The most reported cases come from Allegheny County with 389. Provinces in the eastern part of the state, followed by Montgomery who reported 323 cases, Bucks (285), Philadelphia (260), Berks (255) and Delaware (207).

The cases of Allegheny County (234 confirmed, 155 likely) were lower than last Tuesday’s score of 430. New cases ranged in age from 3 months to 94 years, with an average age of 29. The Department of Health noted that the University of Pittsburgh’s Williams Research The Laboratory reported 57 new cases recorded in Tuesday’s figures yesterday, with the majority (46) as of March and the most recent as of April 1. The total number of cases in Allegheny County is now 94,501.

Westmoreland County added 158 cases of consequences on Tuesday (42 confirmed and 116 likely). The county’s score was lower than last year’s report of 171. Total cases in Westmoreland County are now 31,693.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations for covid-19 continue throughout the state, with Pennsylvania reaching 1,865,467 people partially and 2,828,907 fully vaccinated. These figures exclude Philadelphia County, which handles its own vaccine data and distribution. For reference, there were 1,874,693 people vaccinated from April 1 and 2,448,072 fully vaccinated from last Tuesday.

Allegheny County reached about 328,956 fully vaccinated people as of Tuesday, representing about 26.8% of the country. There were 227,021 people who were partially vaccinated as of Tuesday.

Westmoreland County still has about 12,000 residents who were fully vaccinated from April 13 to Tuesday, and it goes from 75,771 to 87,748 within 75 weeks. The county now has about 24% of the population fully vaccinated. Nearly 50,000 have been partially vaccinated in Westmoreland County since Tuesday.
