During four weeks of this season, Penn State moved nearly 20 players related to the transfer portal, the 2021 NFL draft and an NCAA offer to qualify for additional seniors in 2020. The program once again has a experienced crucial moment for staff development and welcomed seven new first-years for scholarships.
“We really just want to get there and help. We talk about it all the time,” incoming attacking linebacker Landon Tengwall said. “We just want to get to campus and help get this program back on top of the Big Ten.”
Tengwall is the best member of a 2021 Nittany Lions yard class that is thought to be incomplete with a traditional signing day for February. As currently produced, this is a collection that includes 15 prospects signed in December, and half of the group are heading to Happy Valley for January enrollment after the earlier graduation ceremony.
After a Penn State season with a historically brutal opening streak and ending with a four-game winning streak, these newcomers plan to do their part to help build future success.
“I think it added a little bit of motivation and ambition for us,” the quarterback said. Christian Veilleux said. ‘It was difficult to see how the guys will play 0-5 – I will not lie. We did not like it, but we knew our class would have the opportunity to make a difference. We do not want this to happen again and we have set goals for ourselves. I think no one is thinking of dissolving the whole season. Everyone just got closer and closer, so our class is pretty solid. ‘
Tengwall and Veilleux are among the main lines in an early entry group with representatives from five states and two countries – Veilleux is the latest product from Penn State’s impressive Canadian pipeline. The rest of the first-year students will join them later this year.
