Vice President Mike Pence plans to act against the calls of both Democrats and Republicans in Congress against the 25th Amendment and remove President Trump from office after the U.S. Capitol violation.
Fox News confirms the information with sources in the vice president’s office.
Meanwhile, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer have called on Pence to urge him to take steps to remove Trump, even though the president has less than two weeks left in the White House before President-elect Joe Biden was inaugurated on January 20.
“We have not heard from the vice president yet,” Pelosi and Schumer said in a joint statement on Thursday. “The president’s dangerous and riotous actions necessitate his immediate removal from office.”

Lawmakers from both major parties have called for Trump to be removed from office, either through 25th Amendment powers or through a second indictment – though Congress is unlikely to get a second indictment and trial before Jan. 20.
The 25th Amendment, adopted in 1967, allows a sitting president to be removed if the vice president and a majority of cabinet members agree that he is no longer fit to perform his duties. The vice president would immediately become the acting president.
Schumer called on Pence for the 25th amendment in a fiery statement Thursday morning, citing the president’s incitement to an ‘uprising’ against the United States.
“This president should not hold office for one day longer,” Schumer said.
“The quickest and most effective way – it can be done today – to remove this president from office would be for the vice president to immediately call for the 25th amendment. If the vice president and the cabinet refuse to stand up, Congress reconvenes to accuse the president. ‘
The White House and other administrative staff began resigning Wednesday morning after Trump’s handling of the violent riot that forced lawmakers to hide in offices, hide in safe places and bunker in the upper balcony of the living room after being trapped inside.

Trump waited about an hour after crowds ransacked the Capitol building and finally asked his supporters to “remain peaceful” in a tweet, although he later praised the violent group.
He’s behind Pence for refusing to deliver on the results of the Electoral College – a position that the vice president cannot constitutionally take.

Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., Said he had never seen Pence so “angry” when he put pressure on the president to object to the results.

“I know Mike Pence forever,” Inhofe told Tulsa World earlier this week. “I’ve never seen Pence as angry as I do today.”
“I had a long conversation with him,” Inhofe said. “He said, ‘After all the things I did for (Trump). ”
At least four people have died as a result of the riot, which has been fueled by Trump’s rhetoric and claims he was cheated out of the election.
