According to at least two reports, President Joe Biden’s president will be attended on January 20 by Vice President Mike Pence.
The vice president is likely to make the appearance to support the peaceful transfer of power, Politico first reported, citing three sources close to Pence.
The decision came after rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday and after President Trump slammed Pence for certifying the election for Biden, rather than unilaterally confirming the results and returning to the states.
“It was a much more difficult decision days ago, but now less difficult,” one source told Politico.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, Trump wrote: “Mike Pence did not have the courage to do what needed to be done to protect our country and our Constitution, and gave the state the chance to present a corrected set of facts. to confirm, not the fraudulent or inaccurate they have previously asked to certify. US demands the truth! “
Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., Told a newspaper that Pence was upset about the president’s expectations of him.
“I know Mike Pence forever,” Inhofe told the Tulsa World. “I’ve never seen Pence as angry as I do today. He said, ‘After all the things I did for (Trump).’ ‘
Pence’s press secretary, Devin O’Malley, wrote in a tweet on Thursday afternoon that the vice president had not yet been invited to the inauguration.

“You can not attend something for which you have not received an invitation …” he wrote after the Politico report.
He told the outlet Pence and second lady Karen Pence “have not yet made a decision on their attendance.”
A source from the Joint Congressional Committee on Inauguration Ceremonies told CNN the committee planned to wait until after the certification to issue due to ‘the noise surrounding the election results.
Outgoing presidents traditionally attend the inauguration of their successor, but Trump has been debating the election for the past few months, giving no indication of whether he intends to attend. He may be flying to Mar-a-Lago before the inauguration, reports Politico.

On Thursday, however, Trump committed himself to an “orderly” transfer of power after the riot in the Capitol and condemned it as a “horrific attack.”
