Peloton Interactive, Inc. (NASDAQ: PTON), ADIDAS AG (ADDYY) – Peloton CEO reveals death of child in treadmill accident +

Exercise maker manufacturer Peloton Interactive Inc’s (NASDAQ: PTON) CEO John Foley said on Thursday that a tragic accident with Tread +, a bicycle manufactured by the company, resulted in the death of a child.

What happened: The co-founder of Peloton, Foley, in a note revealed an accident with exercise equipment and a child that led to death, adding that the company is aware of only a small handful of incidents with the Tread + where children was injured, without disclosing further details.

Peloton sales rose as demand for home fitness equipment increased due to the closure of gyms during the pandemic. The manufacturer of exercise equipment warned that children should stay away from the firm’s machines.

According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the incident was reported last month and Peloton first learned from the commission’s database of this incident.

In an earlier response to the CPSC, Peloton said Tread + was designed for use by people over 16, weighing more than 105 kilograms and warned that children and pets should be kept away from exercise equipment at all times.

Peloton announced earlier Thursday that it has a new outfit in partnership with Adidas AG (OTC: ADDYY).

Price action: Shares in Peloton closed 5% lower on Thursday at $ 102.74 and traded mostly unchanged in the after-hours.
