Pedro Pascal, Karen Gillan, Maria Bakalova star in Judd Apatow Pandemic-inspired comedy ‘The Bubble’

The film project, which is underway next week, is a metacomedy about a group of actors and actresses trapped in a pandemic bubble at a hotel trying to complete a studio franchise film.

Sources told THR the project was inspired by making Jurassic World: Dominion, the sixth installment in the Jurassic a franchise that stuck its cast during months of pandemic exclusion in the UK, with production halted and restarted several times due to positive COVID-19 tests.

Although many of the details are kept in the hotel safe, it is known that Gillan and Pascal will play the made-up franchise stars, while Mann and Duchovny will play a single actor who now has to sit under one roof in quarantine.

However, Netflix insiders say the film has nothing to do with Supremacy.

Apatow directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Pam Brady (Hamlet 2). The filmmaker produces via his Apatow Productions banner with longtime collaborator Barry Mendel, who recently worked with Apatow on The King of Staten Island, focused on executive products. The project is Apatow’s first venture away from its long-standing home in Universal in more than 15 years.

Bakalova is repeated by CAA, Insight Management & Production, JupiterLights Pictures, while Gillan is reprized by UTA and Jackoway Austen.

Pascal is represented by WME, Anonymous Content and Jackoway Austen, while Duchovny is represented by WME, Mosaic and Nelson Davis.

Keegan is crowned by UTA and Brecheen Feldman, while Armisen is fought by WME, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Morris Yorn.
