A week after 55-year-old Elizabeth Hurley caused a stir by holding her without a top – a move some critics see as “attention-seeking” and inappropriate, Paulina Porizkova follows.
Although she is no stranger to a bikini photo shoot, Porizkova (also 55) is even more in her latest Instagram. The previous Sport Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl is completely naked in the angry shot, which was apparently taken in her bedroom.
In her caption, the 80s-era supermodel defends Hurley, reflecting on how men view a woman’s nudity differently as she gets older, and something that was once so popular turned into a ‘desperate’ act. Porizkova – who spoke publicly about feeling a lack of interest from her husband, the late Ric Ocasek, before their divorce in 2017 – drew on her own experiences with aging.
“Put on your clothes,” Porizkova wrote. ‘Today, on a serious note, thoughts inspired by the brouhaha surrounding a sexy photo of [Elizabeth Hurley]. When I was twenty and thirty, the less I wore – the more popular I was.
“In my forties, I could walk around almost naked and illegally as a ticket to public immorality,” she continued. “At 50, I’m scolded for it. ‘Put on your clothes, Grandma. Hungry for attention, are you? A little desperate here? You are pathetic. ‘
‘Why is sexiness and nudity applauded in a woman’s youth and insulted in her adulthood? Because of men. Men are biologically programmed to disperse their semen and place themselves in fertile containers that advertise their viability through youth. What does this say for men who do not want children? Men who have all the kids they wanted? Men who do not want children the second time? Undeveloped.
‘And what does it say to women like me, who must be empowered by the masculine gaze? Uncertain.
“The only thing that’s pathetic is allowing others to set your priorities.”
She signs off with two of her go-to hashtags: #SexyHasNoExpirationDate and #BetweenJLoandBettyWhite.
Porizkova – who only responded with a clever emoji when a commentator asked who took the intimate photo – received a flood of praise for being so candid.
“That last line is everything!” read a comment. ‘I’m in my twenties and I can’ t tell you how much I respect you. I can only hope that I accept aging as gracefully as you. ”
“Wish I had confidence, girl,” wrote another fan, asking the model to reply, “I’m faking it!”
“I can not know if it was taken 20 years ago or today,” one follower told the Pilates buff. “You are timeless and sexy and society must remain silent.”
