“My heart goes out to everyone involved in the crash, especially the family with the little girl who is fighting for her life,” Reid said via ESPN. “I can not comment on it any more than I am here. The questions you have I will have to reject; but only from a human point of view my heart bleeds for all who are involved.”

Reid was also asked if the accident was a distraction.

“We posted the game plan last week. The distraction was not a distraction as far as the game plan is concerned. It was already in and how we are going to work with it and move forward,” he added. “From a human point of view, it’s a difficult point of view. From a football point of view, I do not think it was a problem.”

Britt, Reid, 35, has yet to be charged over the accident that seriously injured the 5-year-old girl, Ariel. He was apparently examined and he was operated on after the incident. He allegedly told officers he was drinking 2 to 3 drinks and was on a prescription from Adderall.

FOX4 KC obtained police documents corresponding to the details of the accident. According to the documents, Reid told police he was driving a pickup truck involved in the crash and told an officer he drank between two and three drinks and was on prescription for Adderall. The station reported that no names were identified in the police report.

According to FOX4 KC, the crash occurred near the southern ramp of I-435. Police stopped a car driver in a Chevrolet Impala and called for help on the driveway. According to the police report, the hazard lights flashed, but the car’s battery started to run low when a family arrived in a Chevrolet Traverse and parked with their headlights near them.

The station reported, referring to the accident documents, that a white Dodge pickup truck was driving south on the driveway to reach the interstate when the driver hit the Impala and hit the Traverse from behind.

The Impala driver was in the car at the time of the accident and according to the station also did not injure two adults in the Traverse.

Reid joined the Chiefs in 2013 as a defensive assistant and worked his way through the ranks to become the linebacker coach in 2019.
