Patents reveal how it can beat Rockstar

Grand Theft Auto 6 rival Everywhere has been a mystery for years, but a bunch of patents have just revealed what the game might look like.

The mysterious Everywhere Rockstar Games’ final release of Grand Theft Auto 6 a run for his money. The title is being developed by indie studio Build A Rocket Boy Games, led by former Rockstar employees. His most notable member is former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies, who set up the studio following a public outburst with Rockstar in 2016. Benzies and his team kept track of the information about their stuff. The World Intellectual Property Organization granted two patents to the Benzies studio in 2020. Both explain the most important world building and game design methods Build A Rocket Boy will apparently be used to create Everywhere. While the documents have no specific identifiers of where the game is going to play or what the plot is about, there is enough about the world and its features to believe that it can be ambitious at best. The patents, “System and method to provide a computer-generated environment“and”Multiplayer, “was published by WIPO on February 2, 2020 and December 24, 2020, respectively. Redditor NestorSite and a group of other curious fans dug up the documents at the end of January 2021, summarizing their implications for the Build A Rocket Boy subdivision. It seems the developer wants Everywhere to be more than just a game; it can be a virtual platform for endless single player and multiplayer experiences.

Remember that patents are not a perfect version of what companies are developing. Benzies and his team can use the techniques of these documents for a separate project – or delete them altogether. However, given how mysterious the company acted Everywhere in the past, it is the most comprehensive look at Build A Rocket Boy’s inner workings ever discovered. Everywhere patents: a virtual world

To begin with, it seems Everywhere will consist of two separate worlds. The first is a world, where players can meet with friends, make purchases and explore the digital environments on foot or in vehicles. Then there are many – possibly endless – smaller worlds that allow players to play games like battle royales or watch digital media on services like Netflix. Think of it like Super Mario 64, where Princess Peach’s Castle consists of other levels accessible through paintings.

In this theoretical Everywhere world, players could enter shops containing everything from in-game cosmetics to virtual real-world object representations. The patent uses an example of a bicycle or a car that you can communicate with in the world and then buy inside Everywhere and even in real life. It does not explain how it would work, as through any particular retail partnerships, but it does sound like players might be able to buy their avatar and themselves at the same time.

The feature, and a handful of other virtual reality-like features, suggest Everywhere may be a VR experience, but it has not been confirmed yet. It has even been speculated that Everywhere can be launched on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S. However, Benzies also owns a firm called VR-Chitect Limited, which develops according to VR hardware and software The Scot.

The overworld sounds like it will reflect the real world, and there will not be an overarching story or plot that explores the realm of Everywhere. Rather, it looks more like a large lobby that players can occupy before embarking on their own adventures. Benzies teased something like this in an interview with 2017 Polygonand said: “We want this game to be less limited than other games. Although the game has multiple narratives, we also want players to create their own narratives that include characters with a real personality“So where will players find Everywhere‘s more traditional gaming experiences?

Upon entering one of the figurative paintings in Peach’s Castle – that is, by walking into a building or by wearing glasses through the game – it looks as if players will be transported to a completely different game mode. The patents specify only one type of games that can be found inside Everywhere, but the documents make it seem like players can even create their own environments, such as high technology Minecraft. Every time players enter one of these alternate worlds, their avatar in the world will seem busy.

The patents only vaguely refer to a bizarre, battle-royal game mode, where music and rhythm play a big role. When players participate in the game, they are placed in teams and selected from a music library that will have a unique impact on the virtual environment around them and on the abilities of their avatar. The music can, for example, affect the speed at which players move, the weather in the game and the type of loot that occurs in the game.

The descriptions for this rhythmic battle royal are unclear, but it turns out Everywhere will serve as a mixing board of virtual content for each user to access. Friends around the world may join a private room to play virtual basketball, or users can play existing video games by accessing them around the world, such as a free-play sensation Fortnite or Between us. The possibilities are endlessly based on what Build A Rocket Boy has outlined so far, but it is Everywhere concepts can also be a little too ambitious to come true. Yet one thing is clear: Benzies want to create much more than just a GTA 6 rival.

While Grand Theft Auto 6 is said to span several cities and destroy the scope of other Rockstar releases, Everywhere‘s patents do not make it look like an open-world RPG at all. Instead, it sounds like some kind of social media platform or an attempt to create the Metaverse from Neal Stephenson’s 1992 science fiction novel, Snow accident – a parallel digital world where people can sign up to live out their fantasies.
