It’s Patch Tuesday, and Microsoft has released a number of cumulative updates for supported versions of Windows 10.

Windows 10 20H2 in 2004

If you are using Windows 10 20H2 and 2004, Microsoft released KB5000802 with the OS to build 19042.867 and 19041.867 respectively.

The update has the following highlights:

  • Updates to improve security when performing basic Windows operations.
  • Updates to improve security when using Microsoft Office products.
  • Update the security of the Windows user interface.

Solutions and improvements:

This security update contains quality improvements. Major changes include:

  • Pay attention to an increased privacy vulnerability documented in CVE-2021-1640 related to printing submitted at “FILE:” ports. Manually delete the print job in question and resubmit it during print time when the print rinse service is online.

Symptom Work around

System and user certificates may be lost when you upgrade a device from Windows 10, version 1809, or later to a later version of Windows 10. Devices are only affected if they have already installed a latest cumulative update (LCU), released on or after September 16, 2020, and then go to a later version of Windows 10 from the media or an installation source that is not an LCU released on October 13, 2020 or later. This mainly happens when managed devices are updated using outdated bundles or media by means of an update management tool such as Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. This can also happen if you use outdated physical media or ISO images that do not contain the latest updates.

please note Devices that use Windows Update for Business or that connect directly to Windows Update are not affected. Any device that connects to Windows Update should always receive the latest versions of the feature update, including the latest LCU, without any additional steps.

If you’ve already encountered this problem on your device, you can mitigate it in the removal window by going back to your previous version of Windows by using the instructions here. The removal window can be 10 or 30 days, depending on the configuration of your environment and the version you are updating to. You will need to update to the later version of Windows 10 after the issue is resolved in your area. please note Inside the removal window, you can increase the number of days you need to return to your previous version of Windows 10 by using the DISM command / Set-OSUninstallWindow. You need to make this change previously the default window has expired. For more information, see DISM Management System Delete Command Line Options.

We are working on a resolution and will provide updated bundles and refreshed media in the coming weeks.

If you use the Microsoft Japanese Input Method Editor (IME) to import Kanji characters into an app that automatically allows the import of Furigana characters, you may not get the correct Furigana characters. You may need to enter the Furigana characters manually.

please note The programs in question use the ImmGetCompositionString () function.

We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

You can install the update by checking for Settings or by downloading it from the Microsoft Update Catalog Web site.
