Passenger jet leaves runway in Pittsburgh amid snow

The airport and airline said a Delta plane left a runway from Pittsburgh on Wednesday during snowstorms.

There were no injuries after Delta flight 2231 with 77 people aboard the paved surface departed from Pittsburgh International Airport around 6:30 p.m. said in a statement.

The passengers had to be helped off the plane.

The plane, which according to Delta was a Boeing 717 with 72 passengers and five crew members, would leave Pittsburgh for Atlanta.

The NBC subsidiary WPXI of Pittsburgh reported that slide plates could not be used because of the nose-first downward angle of the aircraft.
