Parler suspended from Apple App Store

appeal (AAPL) informed Parler of its decision in a message saying it violated the company’s terms for the app store.

“The processes that Parler has instituted to moderate or prevent the distribution of dangerous and illegal content appear to be inadequate,” Apple told Parler. “Specifically, we continued to find direct threats of violence and calls to encourage lawless action in violation of Guideline 1.1 – Safety – Offensive Content.”

According to Apple’s notice, Parler’s responses to an earlier warning were inadequate, including Parler’s defense that he took violent rhetoric on his platform “for many weeks” seriously and that, according to Apple, it has a moderation plan for the time being.

“Parler has not taken sufficient measures to address the spread of these threats to human safety,” Apple said in a statement to CNN Business. “We have suspended Parler from the App Store until they resolve these issues.”

Apple’s decision follows a similar move by Google to drop Parler from the Google Play Store, and thereafter Amazon (AMZN) came under pressure from its own employees to stop hosting Parler’s website on Amazon Web Services.
