The Dominican Film Selection Commission (CDSF), appointed by the General Directorate of China (DGCINE), has selected the Dominican Pelic “Papi”, chaired by Noelia Quintero and produced by Rafael Elías Muñoz, to represent the Dominican Republic . 63 of the Ariel 2021 Award.
The Ariel is a prize awarded to the Mexican Academy of Arts and Sciences by the Cinematographic Institute, founded in 1946, to publicly recreate the makers, creators, performers, technicians, and performers of all Mexican films. This year, the award recognizes the best of Iberoamerican cinematography in the category of “Major Iberoamericana Película”, presented by Ariel de Plata.
Agradezco to Lantica Media for its interest in participating in the convocation and the CDSF to issue the final verdict that the “Papi” fiction algorithm is our candidate. A film based on the novel by our Rita Indiana, ”said DGCINE’s director general, Yvette Marichal.
The DGCINE will open convocatories on January 19, 2021, for those Dominican cinematographic productions that will be released between January 1 and December 31, 2020. The interested filmmakers will send the corresponding requisites and the CDSF selection of the film.
The criteria for evaluating include the digital representation of the country, the argumentative quality, the local and international projection, and the artistic quality.
