Another veteran defensive player is going to reach the market for free agencies.

The Panthers plan to release the safety of Tre Boston, according to several reports. Boston has two years left on the three-year contract he signed with the club last March.

But Alaina Getzenberg of the Charlotte observer reports that Boston will not even be officially released new league year. This could give a team the opportunity to trade in and trade for Boston and pick up the remaining two seasons on its contract.

It was Boston’s second game with the Panthers as the club selected him in the fourth round of the 2014 draft. He spent a season with each of the Chargers and Cardinals before returning to Carolina in 2019.

Boston has started all 16 games in the past two years, with an interception, four passes defended, a forced fumble, two fumble repairs and a bag in 2020.
