Thursday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box”, Joe Lonsdale, founding partner at 8VC and co-founder of Palantir Technologies Inc. (NYSE: PLTR), was asked about the comments made by Thiel, who is also a co-founder of Palantir, during the virtual event.

‘It is very interesting to see that China is the first car in the crypto world in terms of their government’s cooperation [bitcoin] and they can definitely use it in antagonistic ways, ‘Lonsdale told CNBC.

Lonsdale said he was very pro-bitcoin and that it was a ‘force for freedom’. In the future, you will want currencies to work on the blockchain. ‘

Lonsdale went on to say that it makes sense for the US to have its own cryptocurrency and if the government does not act, the US dollar could become irrelevant within 20 or 30 years.

BTC price action: Bitcoin is 98.34% higher than the previous year and was 3.15% higher at $ 57,716.80 with the last check on Thursday.
