Packers use second round restricted tender on TE Robert Tonyan

The Green Bay Packers bring back Robert Tonyan with a limited tender for free agencies.

According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Packers have awarded Tonyan the second round of the tender, which will cost $ 3,384 million on the limit in 2021.

The limited tender is a one-year guarantee. It offers Tonyan the opportunity to sign a offer sheet with another team, but if the Packers do not agree to the deal, the team must send a second round of the 2021 draft to Green Bay, with a compensation level that should teams refrain from making the move.

Tonyan had 52 tackles for 586 yards and 11 touchdowns over 16 games in 2020. He averaged 11.3 yards per catch and 9.9 yards per target while hitting 88.1 percent of his targets.

According to Silverstein, the tender could be a prelude to the Packers’ packaging over a long-term agreement.

Tonyan is one of six restricted free throws, but he is the only player expected to receive a tender from the Packers.
