Packers free up space by restructuring S Adrian Amos’ contract

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Green Bay Packers released the space by restructuring the security contract Adrian Amos.

Amos, who signed a $ 36 million deal with the Packers in four years in 2019, would count $ 10.3 million against the team cap in 2021. His deal included a $ 4.9 million base salary and a $ 1.5 million roster bonus, both of which will be converted into a sign-up bonus to free up space.

However, any hood released in 2021 will be moved to 2022, when Amos’ hood already costs $ 10.9 million. It is possible that the Packers are comfortable pushing the money forward, knowing that Amos could be an excellent candidate for a contract extension after the 2021 season.

Amos, who turns 28 in April, is coming off a tremendous 2020 season. He was the second overall safety in Pro Football Focus.

According to Over the Cap, the restructuring of its bonus conversion deal could free up nearly $ 3 million. If the restructuring involves an extension or addition of void years, the savings could be even greater.

The Packers were $ 9.4 million above the salary cap as of Friday. The team should be under the cap this coming Wednesday, the start of the new league year.

Other players capable of restructuring or extensions include eighth-man Aaron Rodgers, receiver Davante Adams, wingers Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith and attacking linebacker Billy Turner.
