Packers claim DT Damon ‘Snacks’ Harrison on pardon for week 17

In 2010, the Green Bay Packers claimed a major, nose-filling approach to waivers. That player, Howard Green, eventually made a significant impact as a rotation player during the second half of the season and was partly responsible for a massive game in Super Bowl XLV. Green’s hit on fullback Ben Roethlisberger forced a bad pass, undermining the safety that Nick Collins intercepted and returning for an attack.

There is a long chance that today’s grid transaction will have a similar impact to that of more than ten years ago, but it is not difficult to suggest some similarities.

On Wednesday, the Green Bay Packers allegedly filed a waiver claim on Damon ‘Snacks’ Harrison, who was recently acquitted by the Seattle Seahawks. According to the NFL’s transaction thread, as reported by several media sources, the Packers Harrison will be awarded through the waiver process, as no other teams with worse records have apparently filed a claim.

Whether Harrison prefers to play for the Packers is at stake, as he tweeted earlier in the day that he ‘will not be claimed’. Furthermore, it appears that he wants to choose his destination, as he said that he does not ‘do the waiver thing. Harrison also turned down a contract offer from the Packers a few weeks ago when he was in the Seahawks training group, but preferred to continue at Seattle. However, when he was a healthy scratch on the game day on Sunday, he requested his release, which the team granted on Tuesday.

Still, if he does come to Green Bay, he will join a team on the verge of earning the top spot in the NFC. Harrison was a full-time starter for seven years before signing as a free agent this spring. He played six games for Seattle in 2020, and he drafted about 35 percent of the team’s defensive snaps over the games. He recorded one forced fumble and nine dives over the team, including a six-assist position and the forced fumble in one game against the New York Jets in Week 14.

UPDATE: It sounds like Harrison is willing to join the Packers after all. This Twitter exchange effectively confirms that the Packers are one of the teams Harrison is interested in playing for:
