OxygenOS 11.0.4.4/11.0.7.9 out for OnePlus 8/8 Pro, 8T

The latest OxygenOS 11.0.4.4 and 11.0.7.9 updates are now on their way to the OnePlus 8 and 8T series with a number of important adjustments to the usability and security level of January 2021.

While Samsung has really increased the update game, let’s be honest, OnePlus is starting to drop the ball a bit. These latest stable updates are welcome, but the OxygenOS 11.0.4.4 and 11.0.7.9 updates should really be packed in the February 2021 patch and not the January patch. The firm has been relying on the Open Beta road since too late and we hope this will eventually change. However, there are some notable solutions for those who have stable collections of Android 11 on flagship hardware.

Optimizations come with the OxygenOS 11.0.4.4 and 11.0.7.9 to enhance the slider screenshots and the notification bar UI. While there are split-screen mode solutions, Twitter app freezes, clamp switch errors in accent, restores video playback in the OnePlus Gallery app, plus noise reduction during 5G connection calls. Both spots have been confirmed in a series of posts on the official OnePlus Forums (1.2), with the complete change blocks below:

  • System
    • Optimize the experience of using long screenshots
    • The UI display effect of the notification bar has been optimized
    • Improves the stuttering problem of some three-part applications
    • The small probability problem that can freeze Twitter has been fixed
    • Fixed an issue where opening the split screen of the app might fail
    • The problem that the accent color has not changed is probably fixed
    • The inaccurate version of the attribution of some numbers has been corrected
    • Known issues and improved system stability
    • Android security level has been updated to 2021.01
  • Gallery
    • The problem has been fixed that the video can not be played after a small probability
  • Network
    • The noise problem of 5G calls has been fixed

It is noteworthy that there are separate build numbers and a unique OxygenOS patch for specific regions. Those with the OnePlus 8T in Europe will see the OxygenOS 11.0.7.9 patch arrive on 11.0.7.10. While the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro patches are all marked as OxygenOS 11.0.4.4. This is especially important if you are trying to load one of the patches on your device using Oxygen Updater. Make sure you choose the right build for your region-specific hardware if you want a hassle-free experience.

OxygenOS 11.0.4.4 / 11.0.7.9

The patch varies in size for both devices, but weighs on average around the 280-300MB range. You should be able to grab it all from the above Oxygen Updater, but both patches roll out in an incremental manner over the next few days.
