Othello, Washington, Mauricio Nava-Garibay, in custody after police find car filled with body parts

Authorities said Washington state police responded to a routine report of a suspicious vehicle on Thursday morning. A scene straight up found a horror movie.

The 2014 Honda Accord, which was abandoned in the small town of Othello, may not have attracted much attention from passers-by, even if it was just one disturbing detail – it was blood smeared on the hood.

“Upon further investigation inside the vehicle, a deceased person was discovered,” said a press release from the Sheriff’s office in Adams County.

From there, things went downhill quickly when a fleshy appearance was found in the back seat, and a human head sitting on the back floorboard read the court documents.

Police soon discovered more body parts in the trunk of the vehicle. It is believed that the limbs belong to two different people.

“At the moment, the victims have not been positively identified due to the size of the body,” Sheriff Dale Wagner said in a press release on Friday.

A 28-year-old man identified as Mauricio Nava-Garibay is in custody on suspicion of murder after he was allegedly spotted walking away from the gruesome crime scene. He allegedly told investigators that he had an argument with his girlfriend, Dora Martinez, in her home before luring her into a garage under the pretext that he had to give a ‘gift’. He then stabbed her several times in the neck and torso, punched her in the face and strangled her with an extension cord, he said according to detectives, according to the local news office KIMA-TV.

Allegedly, another woman identified as Guadalupe Martinez entered the garage, at which point Nava-Garibay pushed her to the concrete floor and stabbed her in the back of the neck.

No further details were available about the relationship between the two women and the suspect.

‘Investigations like these are very fair and delicate. We appreciate any cooperation from our community, ”said Wagner.
