Oregon Launches Exposure Notification App
This week, OHA decided to interrupt the ongoing planning of the implementation of the Exposure Notification (EN) application project for Oregon to focus on vaccinations and other priority efforts to end the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the past six months, OHA has benefited from discussions with local public health departments and other partners, highlighting the benefits and costs of any early notification app, including the intensive efforts that state and local health officials must make to launch the app. promote and address likely gaps in its adoption in Oregon’s diverse communities, as well as the additional contact detection requirements that will place the adoption of public health personnel.
OHA appreciates the feedback agency staff heard from our partners working in local communities. State health officials reached the decision after consultation with Government Office Kate Brown.
OHA Director of Public Health Rachael Banks said: “At present, about two dozen states have chosen not to use smartphone-based applications, but rather to rely on other tools to stop the spread of COVID-19. Oregon is committed to building trust with people in communities across the state to vaccinate all Oregonians and maintain other COVID-19 prevention practices, such as wearing a mask, staying physically far, and the size and frequency of restrict indoor social gatherings. These strategies have prevented more than 4,000 COVID-19 deaths in our state. We will continue to prioritize these approaches because it is our best choice to end the pandemic. ”
Vaccinations in Oregon
OHA reported that 32,955 new doses of COVID-19 vaccines were added to the state immunization registry on Tuesday. Of this total, 21,170 doses were administered Monday and 11,785 previous days, but were entered in the vaccine registry on Monday.
Oregon has now administered a total of 1,040,314 doses of Pfizer, 938,182 doses of Moderna and 51,618 doses of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines. As of today, 784,476 people have completed a COVID-19 vaccine series. There are 1,290,755 people who have had at least one dose.
It can take a few days to complete the cumulative daily totals, as providers have 72 hours to report doses, and technical challenges have left many providers lagging behind in their reporting. OHA provided technical support to vaccination sites to improve the timeliness of their data entry into the state’s ALERT Immunization Information System (IIS).
To date, 1,306,305 doses of Pfizer, 1,187,500 doses of Moderna and 168,100 doses of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines have been delivered to Oregon sites.
These data are provisional and subject to change. OHA’s dashboards contain regularly updated vaccination data, and Oregon’s dashboard was updated Tuesday.
