PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ) – There are 29 new deaths related to COVID-19 in Oregon, which increases the death toll from the state to 1,377, along with 1,152 new cases and more than 16,000 new vaccinations, the Oregon Health Authority said Thursday. report.

Vaccinations in Oregon
The health authority reported on Thursday that 16,355 new doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been added to the state immunization registry. Of this total, 10 172 doses of vaccine were administered on Wednesday and 6 188 on previous days, but were entered in the vaccine register on Wednesday.
Based on the updated totals, OHA has announced that vaccination sites across the state have reached the goal of the Kate Brown government to secure 12,000 vaccinations per day by the end of last week. Vaccine providers in Oregon administered 12,039 total doses of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines on Friday, January 8th. The governor met the standard at the end of the two-week period that began on January 4th.
It can take a few days to complete the cumulative daily totals, as providers have 72 hours to report doses, and technical challenges have left many providers lagging behind in their reporting. The Health Authority provided technical support to vaccination sites to improve the timeliness of their data entry into the state’s ALERT Immunization Information System (IIS).
“Even though we reached the governor’s goal of getting 12,000 vaccines a day last week,” said Patrick Allen, director of the OHA. The state cannot achieve our goal of delivering vaccinations quickly, efficiently and fairly, all on our own. I am grateful for the hard work that staff in hospitals, local health clinics and other sites have done to increase vaccinations for Oregonians. Vaccines are the safest and most effective way to end this pandemic. ”
Oregon has now administered a cumulative total of 146,137 first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccines. All vaccinations were administered by Oregon hospitals, long-term care facilities, emergency medical services (EMS), emergency care facilities, and local public health authorities (LPHAs).
To date, 321,425 doses of vaccine have been delivered to sites in Oregon.
These data are provisional and subject to change. OHA’s dashboards contain regularly updated vaccination data.
St. Charles reported that he gave 5,456 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccinations early Thursday. The hospital system also announced late Wednesday that those admitted to the Phase 1a priority group can now plan the appointment of vaccines directly on their website.
