PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ) – There are 21 new deaths associated with COVID-19 in Oregon, including a resident of Deschutes County, which increases the death toll from the state to 1,758, along with 1,037 new cases, the Oregon Health Authority said Reported Friday.

Vaccinations in Oregon

The Oregon Health Authority reported Friday that 26,936 new doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been added to the state immunization registry. Of this total, 10 618 vaccine doses were administered on Thursday and 16 318 were administered previous days, but were entered in the vaccine register on Thursday.

Based on updated totals, the Oregon health authority is meeting the goal of the government, Kate Brown, to ensure 12,000 vaccinations per day. The governor demanded that the benchmark be reached at the end of the two-week period that began on January 4th.

It may take a few days to finalize the total cumulative totals, because providers have 72 hours to report doses, and that technical challenges caused many providers in reporting, OHA said. The Oregon Health Authority has provided technical support to vaccination sites to improve the timeliness of their data entry into the state’s ALERT Immunization Information System (IIS).

Oregon has now administered a cumulative total of 173,073 first- and second-dose COVID-19 vaccines. All vaccinations were administered by Oregon hospitals, long-term care facilities, emergency medical services (EMS), emergency care facilities, and local public health authorities (LPHAs).

To date, 326,300 doses of vaccine have been delivered at locations in Oregon.

These data are provisional and subject to change. OHA’s dashboards contain regularly updated vaccination data.

St Charles Health System reported that it had already given 6,264 Pfizer BioNTech vaccinations early Friday. NewsChannel was also told that 68% of caregivers had been vaccinated.
