Order that delayed the execution of Lisa Montgomery, the only woman on the federal death row, evacuated

A federal appeals court in Washington, DC, has suspended the execution for a female prisoner who was to be executed later this month.

Lisa Montgomery, the only woman in the federal death row, was to die by lethal injection in December, but a federal judge ordered a postponement.

She will now be executed on January 12, but more appeals are expected to be filed in court by Saturday.

Montgomery killed a pregnant woman from Missouri in 2003 and took the little girl out of the womb and later tried to claim the child as her own.

Kelley Henry, one of the lawyers for the convicted murderer, told Fox News she contracted the coronavirus in November when she visited Montgomery, and delayed the preparation of her case with permission. The legal team claims Montgomery suffers from a mental illness caused by a childhood of rampant rape and abuse.

Henry, a public defender in Nashville, said: “She is on suicide watch and has received the highest mental health rating.”
