Orange County offers pre-registration for COVID-19 vaccine appointments

ORANGE COUNTRY, Fla. Orange County is allowing Florida residents to pre-register for the appointment of coronavirus vaccines for faster reporting if shots are available.

The appointment portal for the Orange County Convention Center website opened at 8 a.m. Friday (January 29) with a number of new appointments for the shots, but it closed less than an hour later.

People need to set up a CDR health bill to be tested or to schedule an appointment with the vaccine. Once a person is registered, they will still need to plan their appointment, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said.

Meanwhile, staff at four community centers in Orange County are on hand to help residents who do not have a computer and / or smart device and who may need help signing up for a shot.

Staff at Holden Heights, Pine Hills, East Orange and Taft Community Centers will be available Friday to help seniors register for the vaccine. Spanish-speaking staff will also be available.

Dr. Raul Pino, health officer for the Orange County-Florida Department of Health, said it was difficult to determine exactly how many appointments the province would offer per week based on vaccine availability, but he estimated about 8,000 for the coming week.

“Every day we have a different number of appointments, so it could be that we pick up 200 to 300 within a day,” Pino said. ‘Therefore, I can not tell you how many a day, but last time we opened it, which was similar to the coming weeks, we added about 8,000 appointments a week. The number should therefore be almost a little over 8,000. ‘
