Orange County Coronavirus Statistics Improve Again and Place Red Level Within Range – Orange County Register

Orange County improved a fifth week by improving pandemic statistics from a rough start to the new year, and dipped one tone into the next, less restricted level of the state’s four-level tracking system, which determines which businesses and can reopen public spaces.

The province’s positive test – that’s the share of wadding and speed tests coming back positive – and is one of three critical measures used to determine how strict pandemic rules should be – this week it dropped to 7.8%, which made it barely over the 8% threshold in red. levels according to an update from the Department of Public Health on Tuesday, February 16th. Last week, the rate of positive tests was 9.4%.

However, Orange County will remain at the most severe press level, where it has been racing since mid-November, until two other critical metrics further improve: cases and health equity. Countries must qualify for the next level in all three statistics for two weeks to advance.

The province’s dropout rate this week dropped to 20.7 cases per day per 100,000 inhabitants from 29.7 per 100,000 last week. The rate must fall below 7 per 100,000 to achieve the goals of the red level.

The measure of health equity – or the test of positivity among Orange County neighborhoods excessively affected by the pandemic – dropped from 12.4% last week to 10.7% and dropped above the 8% target.

As of September last year, Orange County enjoyed a two-month break from the strictest pandemic rules when it reached the red level and businesses such as restaurants, cinemas and gyms could operate within limited capacity.
