Chinese smartphone maker Oppo is preparing for a launch in March of its flashy next-generation flagship device, according to famed leaker Jon Prosser.

Prosser posted a picture on Twitter on Tuesday of four phones, pretending to be Oppos’s Find X3, Find X3 Pro, Find X3 Neo and Find X3 Lite, along with a caption stating a clear announcement date of March 11 and the delivery date of April 14 revealed. The Find X3’s ‘squirrel’ camera bump, which apparently contains four lenses, drew immediate comparisons with the pro models of Apple’s iPhone 12 line.

“Everyone is starting the comments of the iPhone copy now, but at least it looks different and quite cool. It definitely looks smooth too,” the leaked Ishan Agarwal said.

“I like companies trying something new and different instead of just copying Apple,” wrote another Twitter user.

Oppo is not ashamed to release gadgets that draw great design inspiration from Apple’s iconic products. Last year’s Oppo Watch was anything but a clone of the Apple Watch, of its slightly curved display, removable silicone straps and even the white packaging.

Oppo is not a well-known name in the US, but the Chinese company is one of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world. This has been a threat to Apple for the past few years, offering features such as no-notch screens and under-the-glass sensors not found on the iPhone.

An Oppo spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
