Open-World Pokémon Spin-Off, Pokémon Legends: Arceus Announced for 2022

Game Freak has announced Pokemon Legends: Arceus, an open-world action-RPG Pokémon game set in the feudal past of the Sinnoh region (the place of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl). It arrives in early 2022 for Nintendo Switch. Announced during today’s Pokémon Presents broadcast, the game features a game world reminiscent of Breath of the Wild, covered with wild Pokémon to capture, and apparently uses some action mechanics to play. The goal is to create Sinnoh’s first Pokedex, which includes reconnaissance, Pokemon recording, and a rendition of the series’ traditional turn-based battles.

Check out a preview of the game below:The game aims to break a ‘new track’ for the Pokémon series, and has Rowlet, Cyndaquil or Oshawott as a partner Pokémon. The game revolves around the mythical Pokémon Arceus, but no further details about the story are given.

The player will travel from the central town of Sinnoh to different parts of the region and use traditional Pokeballs to catch monsters. However, the official website says that the rate is more than the traditional survey that you “must observe to learn their behavior, then sneak carefully, aim your Poké Ball and let it fly!”

This is not the only new Pokémon game set in Sinnoh – remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl will be released in late 2021.
