Only 1 dose of coronavirus vaccine required for previously infected people – POLITICO

The coronavirus vaccine should be extended to people who already had COVID-19, the largest health authority in France announced on Friday.

Since December, the advice is that this group should wait three months after recovery before offering a first dose. But in the statement of the Haute Autorité de Santé today, the interval was extended to six months. The HAS also recommended that they require only one dose, rather than two.

The latest immunological study suggests that humans have natural protection for up to six months after COVID-19, HAS explained.

However, there are two exceptions. Those who are immunosuppressed should be vaccinated according to the two-dose schedule, within three months of the onset of the infection. And people who received a first dose but then developed an infection in the days after the jab should not receive the second dose within the normal time frame but within three to six months after the infection.
