  • OnePlus has announced a release schedule and suitable phones for Oxygen OS 11.
  • The Android 11-based open beta update will hit the OnePlus Nord this week.
  • The company will also update the OnePlus 6 and all later models with the latest software.

Over the weekend, OnePlus released a forum post about when it plans to launch the latest Oxygen OS 11 update on its phones. The Android 11 software is currently available on the OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 8 series and according to the company, it will soon expand to existing and older phones – in this case the OnePlus 6 and later models.

The first in line to receive Oxygen OS 11 this month is the OnePlus Nord. The phone was updated to Oxygen OS 10.5.10 last week and OnePlus says it will launch the first Android 11 open beta version for it sometime this week. There is no timeline yet for when the stable release will follow, but the company says it will do phased implementations after collecting feedback from beta users.

Many OnePlus 7 and 7T users are also eagerly awaiting the Android 11 update. OnePlus confirmed earlier Android Authority that it would come on the phones before the end of 2020. However, the firm says it had a problem encrypting data while the update was being transferred to the phones. That said, it has worked with Qualcomm to resolve the issue and expects to release the first Oxygen OS 11 open beta for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series shortly after the ongoing closed beta testing.

As for the OnePlus 6, Oxygen OS 11 will be its third major Android update. The phone is pre-installed with Android 8.1 Oreo and is supposed to receive only two major updates, so it’s nice to see that OnePlus gives users an extra one there.

The OnePlus 6T, on the other hand, came out of the box with Android Pie and was therefore already in line to get Android 11.. Lastly, the OnePlus Nord N10 and N100 are also queuing up to receive the software. The phone maker says it will share more information about the update schedule for these phones later.
