Following recent leaks and leaks, an app for the OnePlus Band portable fitness has been released in the Play Store. The app, called OnePlus Health, displays pretty typical fitness features, such as mapping, activity tracking, clock adjustment, and general device management. We even see a look at some of the watches with which it may appear. And if it seems familiar, there’s a good reason for it.
The description and images of the app show the ability to track heart rate, steps, sleep and other daily activities. In addition to charting things like running routes, you can also keep the duration of the workout, distance and calories burned, at a daily goal.
OnePlus Health screenshots also display at least five different clock levels that you can presumably set for the app, from analog to digital, in names like Shape, Glow and Firework, though there are probably more. A final screenshot further confirms the OnePlus Band name, with shortcuts to configuration options for the paired device. As shown in the description of the image, you will also be able to manage notifications and calls. It is not one of the most portable fitness equipment.
If the app looks familiar to you, we’m not surprised. It’s not just design convergence; these screenshots look basically identical to the HeyTap Health app from sister company OPPO. This is not the first time that our siblings share BBK software, and that many bits in ColorOS match OnePlus’ software, but it further demonstrates how close the ties are between the two. Tears also shows what looks like an OPPO Watch hanging in the app’s code. Given the similarities between the two apps, and since the Oppo Watch wear is Wear OS, it’s a strong indication to me that the OnePlus Band will be too. (Although there was talk, it has not yet been fully confirmed.)
Just in case the app list gets hidden.
Although the app subscription is public and there is a public beta on which you can subscribe, the app itself is listed as incompatible with all the devices associated with my US account, which includes almost every OnePlus phone. It may be available in other markets, and we can confirm that it is available in India.
Obviously we do not have the watch to pair it with, but here’s what the app looks like in action.
With this Play Store look, I would say that the launch of the back-and-forth portable OnePlus portable is probably just around the corner. The OnePlus 9 is expected to land earlier than usual this year, though this app will appear two months before the expected launch date, which is quite a bit of a fill if the OnePlus Band will land next door.
