OnePlus’ first smartwatch promises a two-week battery and fast charging

After months of teasing, OnePlus is ready to launch its first smartwatch in full. In addition to the flagships of OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, the company gave us a look at the simply named Watch. It costs $ 159, operates OnePlus’ own operating system and offers more than 110 workout modes, and you can also see notifications and messages from your phone. But the most interesting feature is the loading speed. OnePlus applies its Warp Charge technology to the portable and promises to get a full day of juice within five minutes.

It is faster than most current smartwatches, which takes a very long time to charge. With light use, OnePlus estimates that you’ll be able to get outside the watch for two weeks, while usage usage drops to seven days. Thanks to the 5 watt charging rate, you can get a week’s energy within 20 minutes.

With the kind of estimated battery life, the OnePlus Watch falls more into a portable fitness area (like Fitbit and Garmin’s watches) than multi-purpose smartwatches (like the Apple Watch or Wear OS devices). The operating system is not something we have seen or tested, so we can not yet see how powerful it is. But in addition to the workouts, the watch also offers more than 50 customizable watch faces and will do basic things, such as showing the weather and taking calls.

Like many modern fitness aids, the Watch can monitor your oxygen saturation in your blood, guide you through breathing exercises, alert you to abnormal heartbeats, and automatically detect when you start running or jogging. With the built-in GPS, you can also map your routes without your phone.

It will also sync with a new OnePlus Health app that will be available on Android by the end of March, and the company will also sync data with Google Fit and other services. For now, the Watch only works on Android, and OnePlus has said that iOS support will come in a future update. Another update of the line is the ability to use the Watch to control the OnePlus TV device.

The watch itself has a round, slightly curved 1.39-inch AMOLED screen in a 46mm stainless steel case. This is relatively large, as most smartwatches start with 38mm or 40mm models, and OnePlus does not currently offer other sizes. The company said the face was made of ‘specially treated sapphire crystal, with a Mohs rating of 9, for improved clarity and exceptional scratch resistance.’ It is also IP68 rated for dust and water resistance as well as 5ATM water pressure.

Although there are Moon Light Silver and a “limited edition” Cobalt Alloy color variants available in different regions, those in North America can only buy the Midnight Black version. The OnePlus Watch will be sold on the company’s website on April 14 and at $ 159 it offers a compelling feature set for the price.
