OnePlus’ first portable is a fitness tracker with a two-week battery

OnePlus has announced its first fitness tracker, the OnePlus Band, with heart rate monitors and blood oxygen saturation monitors, fitness and sleep tracking, and a battery life of up to two weeks. It works with Android at launch, but not iOS; OnePlus says compatibility with iPhones will be added later. The OnePlus band will be available in India from January 13 for £ 2,499 (about $ 34), but a worldwide release has yet to be announced.

The OnePlus Band is the latest incident outside of smartphones, which also includes TVs and wireless headphones. The portable looks primarily designed for fitness, thanks to the ability to detect heart rate and blood oxygen levels, and the support for 13 built-in exercise modes. However, it also contains sleep detection and can serve as a phone accessory with support for displaying notifications, as well as music version and shutters of the camera.

In terms of hardware, the OnePlus Band features a rectangular 1.1-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 126×294 and a silicone watch. It is available in black, dark green and “mandarin gray” and has a dust and water resistance rating of IP68. The 5ATM rating means it is water resistant to 50 meters deep for ten minutes. Internally, there is a 100 mAh battery, which according to OnePlus will offer up to two weeks of battery life.

The OnePlus Band is managed by the OnePlus Health app, now available for Android, and which OnePlus advertises, health data can be analyzed and used to set personal fitness goals. For the ‘best experience’, however, OnePlus says you should pair the band with a OnePlus smartphone. A OnePlus Health app for iOS will appear after the launch of the group.
