OnePlus fans have been demanding a smartwatch from the company for years now, and 2021 will be the year it finally delivers. Before that happens, the “OnePlus Band” fitness tracker will reportedly start shaking.
The people at Android Central reports that OnePlus will release a fitness tracker called the “OnePlus Band” sometime in the first quarter of 2021. It’s apparently a separate device from the company’s upcoming smartwatch that offers a fitness-focused bare-bean experience.
This “OnePlus Band” is a competitor of the Xiaomi Mi Band series we discussed earlier. Our Damien Wilde called the most recent Xiaomi Mi Band 5 a ‘winning formula’ that delivers a bit of functionality at a very low price. OnePlus’ fitness tracker will apparently try to use the same formula with a price point of about $ 40 or so, while using an OLED screen that offers resistance and a multi-day battery life, while being able to track basic fitness statistics.
It is unclear whether this means that the fitness tracker and the smartwatch will be announced by OnePlus at about the same time, but it is wise that this fitness tracker will allegedly first debut in India before going to other regions. The report claims that a launch in January or February is possible based on the information received, suggesting that the fitness tracker may arrive well ahead of the OnePlus 9 launch event.
