One UI 3.1 provides wireless support for DeX on PCs for more Galaxy phones

A few weeks ago it was discovered that the Galaxy S1 series contains wireless support for DeX on a computer. As it turns out, you can wirelessly toss DeX to a compatible PC with the latest One UI 3.1 update, which means more Galaxy devices support the feature.

Reddit user Ahmed_Momen22 posted a screenshot on Reddit revealing support for the feature in One UI 3.1 on their unlocked Galaxy S20 Ultra.

“Get a powerful desktop experience from your phone,” reads the picture. “Connect DeX wirelessly to a suitable TV or computer, or connect your phone with a cable to a monitor, TV or computer.”

Samsung Wireless DeX One UI 3.1

If you are not yet familiar, DeX is Samsung’s computer mode software that lets you turn your Galaxy S or Tab device into a portable computer so you can be more productive on a larger screen. It can be on the device (on Tab devices), on an external monitor / TV (wirelessly using Miracast or wired with a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter), or as a windows application on a Windows / macOS computer is used.

To run the experience under Windows 10 / macOS, you need to download Samsung’s DeX for PC software. Previously, you could only run DeX for PC with a wired connection between your Galaxy device and your computer. However, the latest update in One UI 3.1 apparently supports running DeX for PC wirelessly, as long as your devices are on the same wireless network.

As we explained earlier, the process of starting DeX wirelessly on a computer is simple. Just drag down the notification screen and tap on the appropriate icon to start searching for a computer that is on the same network and on which the DeX for PC software is installed. Then simply switch on.

DeX has always been a great way to extend the features of your Galaxy device. If you use the experience wirelessly, it even becomes seamless. If you haven’t given the feature a try yet, maybe this is finally the time to do so.
