One dead, five injured in highway shooting in Texas

One person was killed and five others injured after a shooting on a highway in Texas, officials said.

Dominick Dijuan Primes, 19, died Saturday morning in a Fort Worth hospital, hours after police said occupants of two vehicles on Southwest Loop 820 began shooting at each other for unknown reasons, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. .

According to police call logs, the incident was first reported around 10:10 p.m. Friday when a caller stated she heard multiple shots near her home, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. One of the bullets went through a window and hit her husband in the arm, the newspaper reported.

Dozens of police units responded to the scene through the night.

A stray bullet hit a woman in a separate vehicle, Fort Worth police spokeswoman Tracy Carter said.

All the victims were taken to hospitals. According to police, five of them were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

While the motive for the shooting is still unknown, the police gang unit has taken over the investigation, Carter said.

No suspects were identified or arrested Saturday morning.
