One car accident kills 4-year-old girl in Brighton and injures 3 others

BRIGHTON, Mich. Police are investigating a single accident in which a 4-year-old girl died in Livingston County on Friday.

Officials say on Jan. 1 around 11 p.m., a 36-year-old man from Fayetteville, North Carolina, lost control of a vehicle while driving north on US-23, south of Highland Road. The 2006 Ford Expedition apparently left the driveway and hit several trees.

According to authorities, the man’s 33-year-old wife, 8-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter were passengers in the vehicle during the accident. Police say the 4-year-old girl was thrown from the vehicle during the accident and died at the scene.

The driver, his wife and the eight-year-old boy were taken out of the vehicle by emergency personnel and taken to hospital for their injuries. Their specific injuries and conditions are currently unknown.

Officials at the Sheriff’s Office in Livingston County believe excessive speed and alcohol factors appear to be in the crash.

This investigation continues.
