March 17 – As Ohio opens vaccinations to more people, more people receive a vaccination card from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, which begs the question, “what should I do about this?”
On the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center blog, pharmacist Jeff Pilz said that people should bring the card with a photo ID to their second vaccination appointment, and then keep the card in a safe place if you need it later. need.
For extra protection, he said you can laminate the card if you have access to a machine and recommended taking a photo of the card on a smartphone for reference.
He added that there will also be a record of your vaccination at the healthcare organization that provided the vaccine in MyChart, and the state of Ohio maintains a central database of vaccinations.
Pilz said carrying the card is not necessary daily, but if you are traveling internationally, you will want to see if it is necessary at any stops during your trip.
If you lose your card, Pilz said, there are new tickets available, but replacements will be empty. You must therefore contact the organization that provided your vaccination to complete it.
