Elected President Joe Biden made his final speech on Monday for the voters in Georgia to give him a Democratic Senate to work with him in Washington and ask them to nominate Democrats Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock to be elected in Tuesday’s run-off election.
“People, this is it, this is a new year, and tomorrow may be a new day for Atlanta, for Georgia and America,” Biden said in a drive-in march in Atlanta. “
Referring to the fact that his own victory in Georgia was the first time a Democrat had carried the state in a presidential race in 1992, Biden told voters that ‘we need to vote in record numbers again.
“Georgia, the whole nation is looking at you,” he said. ‘One state can not only set the course for the next four years, but also for the next generation.
President Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a rally in Dalton on Monday night to boost support for current Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue.
The speeches come a day after the sound of an hour-long call between Trump and the foreign minister in Georgia appeared, in which the president unsuccessfully pressured the official to state the election results of his state, which Biden met with won just under 12,000 votes.
Biden did not directly refer to the call, but said that “politicians cannot take, claim or seize power.”
“Power is being given by the American people alone,” he said. “The will of the people must prevail.”
“I do not know why he wants the job,” Biden said a moment earlier about Trump. “He does not want to do the work.”
Biden described Loeffler and Perdue yesterday as “senators who think their loyalty to Donald Trump is not to Georgia.” Only Loeffler will be able to vote on Wednesday when a group of Republican senators plan to object to the outcome of the presidential election, part of a futile effort to thwart Biden’s victory.
Biden acknowledged that large chunks of its policy agenda in the balance depend on the two critical races that will determine Senate control. If the Democrats win both, they will take control of the chamber.
“With their votes in the Senate, we will be able to make the progress we need,” Biden said, referring to policy areas such as employment, health care and the environment. He added that a Democratic Senate majority could ensure that $ 2,000 stimulus checks were sent to qualifying individuals and alleviate barriers to the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine.
If the Democrats take control of the Senate again, Biden will be more likely to achieve more of his agenda, as the Democrats also occupy the House. If at least one of the two Republican incumbents wins, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., Will have control over Biden’s legislative agenda, top administration staff and judicial appointments.
