Olivia Wilde, Shia LaBeouf broke over music video credit

Rainey Qualley’s music video for ‘Love Me Like You Hate Me’ features a behind-the-scenes drama.

The news appeared on December 24, revealing why Shia LaBeouf was replaced by Harry Styles on Olivia Wilde’s new directorial attempt, “Don’t Worry Darling”, because filmmaker fired LaBeouf for his poor performance in pre-production. It was originally reported that LaBeouf left the film due to a scheduling conflict, but Variety reported that actor Wilde’s ‘no asshole policy’ on set actually violated. As The Hollywood Reporter revealed this week, the shooting “Don’t Worry Darling” led to another clash between Wilde and LaBeouf over another project: Rainey Qualley’s music video for “Love Me Like You Hate Me.”

Qualley released the “Love Me Like You Hate Me” video on October 23, and the project quickly went viral thanks to the explicit content of the NSFW and the involvement of actors Margaret Qualley and Shia LaBeouf. Among the collaborators who worked on the music video were LaBeouf’s “Honey Boy” photography Natasha Braier, the choreography collective JA, and the producer and regular collaborator of LaBeouf, Luke Turner.

A special thanks to Olivia Wilde among the final credits of the video. As reported by THR, Wilde received a special shout out because she originally directed the music video “as a favor to the sisters, specifically Margaret Qualley, with whom she previously collaborated while directing the short film ‘Wake Up’.”

THR reports: “After finishing the production of ‘Love Me Like You Hate Me’, Wilde had a certain amount of time to finish her track from the video. Before the period expired, LaBeouf submitted his own version of the video he was working on in partnership with Turner. ”

When LaBeouf sent his track of the music video to the team, Wilde allegedly replied that “she would like to watch and submit her track soon.” LaBeouf allegedly did not take the note well and ‘responded again by suggesting that the correct answer would have been to write thank you and that’ we should go along with this ‘with reference to the answer he submitted.’

THR spoke to a source who saw the group’s email and said LaBeouf also told Wilde, “Great jazz musicians know when not to play.” THR’s report continues: “At that point, Wilde left the project (by writing back: ‘I’m out’) and her name has since been removed from the music video about what some considered LaBeouf’s unprofessional behavior.”

The music video “Love Me Like You Hate Me” was released with Turner as director. After the debut of the video, LaBeouf’s ex-girlfriend and FKA Twigs, co-star “Honey Boy”, revealed that she had filed a lawsuit against LaBeouf for alleged sexual abuse and abuse. The news of Wilde’s dismissal of LaBeouf followed, followed by confirmation that Netflix had scraped LaBeouf’s name off the FYC campaign pages for the upcoming Oscar nominee ‘Pieces of a Woman’.

IndieWire added representatives from Wilde and LaBeouf for further comment.
