Users streaming YouTube on old Apple TV boxes will have to look another way to watch as the devices will lose support for the YouTube app next month. The 3rd generation devices released in 2012 will soon no longer be compatible with the YouTube app. Instead, you need to use airplay if you want to stream on your TV.
Here is the message that appears on the screens of the 3rd generation Apple TV:
Launch YouTube, the YouTube app will no longer be available on Apple TV (3rd generation). You can still watch YouTube on Apple TV 4K, Apple TV HD, iPhone or iPad. With AirPlay, you can also stream YouTube directly from your iOS device to any Apple TV (3rd generation or later).
If you’re still using and upgrading an old model, it’s time to do so before leaving YouTube support next month. Fortunately, the latest Apple TV 4K streaming device is on sale for only $ 149.99, compared to $ 169.99 for the 32 GB.
