Oklahoma Health Commissioner confirms downward trend in COVID-19 cases

Kendrick said he doubts whether the reduction in the new COVID-19 cases is the result of ongoing vaccinations. About 32,000 of nearly 3 million Oklahomans over the age of 18 received a first and second dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

Monday through Wednesday, the state reported between 1,500 and 2,000 new COVID-19 cases daily – a drastic decrease compared to the previous week. From January 13 to Sunday, the state reported between 3,000 and 4,000 new COVID-19 cases every day.

The decline in infections coincides with a recent decline in hospitalizations from the state’s record high of 1,926 COVID patients admitted to the hospital on January 9th.
