Ohio reports 1,855 new cases of coronavirus: Sunday update

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Health reported Sunday that the number of confirmed or probable infections from the new coronavirus has risen to 1,039,455, up from 1,855 since Saturday.

The state has not reported any new deaths in the past 24 hours. According to the COVID-19 dashboard of the state, the total number of deaths is no longer available daily. It will be updated twice a week.

The state reported 2,048 new cases on Saturday.

In the last 24 hours, COVID-19 hospitalizations worldwide have increased by 31, which is one third of the 21-day moving average of 93 daily hospitalizations. Two COVID-19 patients were transferred to the ICU in the past 24 hours, below the current 21-day moving average of 10.

The Sunday score is slightly lower than the 21-day moving average, which currently stands at 1,891.

Ohio has reported that another 47,535 COVID-19 vaccines have been started, meaning at least one dose has been given since Sunday afternoon. A total of 4,104,194 vaccinations were initiated in the state, representing 35.11% of Ohio’s population. A total of 2,615,916 vaccinations were completed (22.38% of Ohio’s population).

According to Johns Hopkins, there are more than 135 million confirmed cases of coronavirus and nearly 3 million deaths worldwide. In the US, there are more than 31 million confirmed cases of coronavirus and nearly 562,000 COVID-19 deaths.
