Ohio reports 1,558 new cases of coronavirus: update on Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Health reported Saturday afternoon that the state has 1,558 new cases of coronavirus.

The Ohio Department of Health is relying on the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to detect the deaths of Ohio residents, a change in the counting protocol announced Tuesday.

Between 6 a.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday, 43,505 people completed their vaccination.

The total number of people who have completed their vaccination is now more than 1.3 million, representing 11.46 percent of Ohio’s population.

The state follows the definition of the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of a ‘case’, which includes those diagnosed by genetic PCR or antigen testing, or people diagnosed in a clinical setting – experiencing symptoms linked to a confirmed COVID-19 case. , among other criteria.
