Oculus launches more user accounts and application sharing next month

The company believes the features could help increase household use, and prevent piracy. It is also expected that more households will get multiple Quest devices in the coming years, so app sharing will enable a primary account holder to share their purchases on three devices in the future. The company also says it will evaluate whether to adjust the number of devices allowed and secondary accounts as it receives feedback from its user community.

However, when app share launches next month, primary accounts can only enable app share on one headset, even if they can sign in to multiple devices at once. Furthermore, secondary accounts cannot share apps with other accounts, even if purchases have been made on the specific Quest. Note that the only way to change the primary account of a headset is the factory default setting.

The company currently allows developers to part with the sharing of apps, but all new Rift or Quest applications submitted on the Oculus platform should have the feature from February 13, 2021.
