NYPD shoots trigger man who shot 3

The NYPD opened fire Saturday night to stop a gunfight in a street in the Bronx – and when the smoke cleared, one man was killed and two others, including a pedestrian, were injured.

Police rushed to Findlay Avenue and East 166th in Concourse Village at 6:30 p.m., after two gunmen started firing bullets at the intersection, killing one apparent rival, police said.

It was still daylight when three uniforms opened fire from the uniform to involve the two armed men and injured one of them, police said.

Police hit an innocent bystander in the arm during the gunfire. The victim’s identity was not released on Saturday night.

“Officers immediately assisted the victim, including applying a tourniquet and a quick clot to the wound,” NYPD Assistant Chief Kenneth Lehr told reporters.

It was unclear whose bullet hit the bystander.

None of the police involved were injured, police said. The two gunmen were still charged, and no further suspects were sought Saturday night.

Police did not immediately release the names of those involved.

Arriving police ‘observed two men, each armed with a firearm, discharged their firearm to a third man who fled and ran in the direction of the officers,’ Lehr said.

The suspects fled down the street and turned onto College Ave.

“At that point, they encountered two uniformed officers at a foot post,” Lehr said.

“The armed men then threw their firearms under a nearby van and arrested them without incident.”

The rival on whom the two men shot died after being hit several times by the bullets of his pursuers.

Photos of the scene show neighbors walking around on crime tape where about a dozen bullet casings were scattered on the sidewalk.

‘I just heard shots and threw myself on the floor. “I was standing at the door and I saw someone lying in the middle of the street,” witness Mike Hernandez told The Post.

“Believe me it was a lot of shots. It was a lot of shots, “said Hernandez, a 26-year-old worker at El Pollo Deli Grocery at the intersection.

“I do not even know what to say honestly,” he added. ‘This is not the first time I’ve seen such things before. This is nothing new. ”
