The third time is the charm!
New York will begin supplying the vaccine to NYPD officials from Monday, as the state is eligible for the next priority group.
The department’s medical department will begin firing at Randall’s Island, Rodman’s Neck, Floyd Bennett Field, the Police Academy and the 121 Precinct Station House between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Assignments will let police know when they can get the vaccine, the messages add.
The announcement comes two days after Governor Andrew Cuomo thwarted the town hall’s attempt to move police by labeling them as the first medical response.
In December, Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said police officers would be eligible for the vaccine, but the provision of the state delayed implementation.
Shea tested positive for the pandemic bug on Friday morning, officials said. Nearly 500 police have already contracted COVID by 2021, police officers said.
