NY opens thousands more Covid-19 vaccine appointments, but discussion is challenging

Syracuse, NY – New York opened tons of new Covid-19 dating this morning – but discussing it is challenging because the demand is so great.

Here are some tips from people who have been successful:

Clean your closet before you start.

Start with the state’s Am I qualifying website. Click the blue “start” button.

Fill in the suitability form. This was a problem for some, as the screen sometimes freezes. Others say the questions about underlying health conditions do not show. It may help to clean your closet and try again. Others say it helped to try another browser.

When you get past it, you will see a screen that looks like the photo below:

This image is from the “Am I Eligible” website in New York. You’ll be taken to this page after entering your fitness information. From here, keep updating and clicking on the different vaccination sites. Appointments do appear from time to time.Source: New York

This is the screen to refresh regularly, or update regularly, and then select a site.

Often you get a pink screen with the caption “Due to high volume, no appointments can be made for this location at this time.”

It’s unfortunately a dead end. Close the tab and return to the search provider screen (shown above).

Press the update button and repeat.

With luck, you come to the chosen vaccine in a virtual queue. Stay on this screen and wait until the clock counts down. This can take as long as an hour.

Once this is done, press the continue button.

This should open the page with the appointments. This morning, readers reported that they were lucky enough to get appointments in February and March on state-run websites.

And remember, the state does have a phone line for appointments: 833-697-4829. Even though it was 10:50 today, the line played a message that the call volume was high and asked people to call back later.
