Nvidia has started launching RTX 3000 series for laptops. The GPU manufacturer is holding a virtual press event for CES tomorrow and it is widely expected that the mobile versions of the RTX 3000 series GPUs will be introduced. A new teaser video contains a very clear tip from a laptop, along with other announcements that Nvidia is likely to make.
Tom’s Guide note that the teaser contains four images: a laptop, the Outdoors game, a GeForce RTX logo and the size of BAR (base address register). The laptop points to the RTX 3000 mobile GPUs, but it’s also likely that the RTX logo will bother further desktop GPUs. Rumors have it that Nvidia is ready to launch an RTX 3060 GPU which will be priced under the Nvidia’s latest RTX 3060 Ti card.
The customizable BAR support looks like a hint for an upcoming driver update for Nvidia’s RTX cards. Like AMD’s Smart Access memory, Nvidia can increase the throughput between a CPU and GPU to improve frame rates. Motherboard manufacturers will need to provide BIOS updates to make this possible for both Intel and AMD CPUs, but Nvidia’s teaser suggests that it’s also ready to set up the necessary driver support.
Nvidia will hold its CES press conference on January 12 at 09:00 PT / 12:00 ET, and we will discuss all the announcements as they happen.
